PART I: The Rest of Africa.

Answer two questions from this part.

  2. Explain the conditions which have influenced the distribution of natural vegetation in Africa. (7 marks)
  3. Outline the influence of human activities on vegetation in Africa.                            (4 marks)

2. (a) Draw a sketch map of Gezira irrigation scheme on it, mark and label;

  1. Rivers: white Nile, Blue Nile and Atbara,
  2. Towns: Khartoum and Wadi – Medan,
  3. Dams: Sennar and Jebel Aulia,

     (b)  Describe the physical factors which have influenced the location of the Gezira irrigation scheme.  (6 marks)

   (c) Explain the benefits of the Gezira Irrigation scheme to the people of Sudan.            (5 marks)

   (d) Outline the problems which have resulted from the establishment of the Gezira Irrigation scheme.  (5 marks)
